LaTeX with PowerPoint

I've been searching for a long time an efficient way to use mathematical notations in MS PowerPoint. Tried to use full LaTeX-based presentation by using Prosper or Beamer, I've found it's not so handy and hard to express ideas quickly. Nothing perfect but I've found a few workarounds:

TexPoint : Unfortunately, it's not free now. However, some old versions are free and available here via http://www.stat.pitt.edu/stoffer/freetex.html. I verified that its working with MS PowerPoint 2007. To use the old version, DOS version ghostscript (gswin32c.exe. Available from here)
MyTeXPoint : Free and cool. I like this.

Future work for V-Lab-Protein

We - Youngik Yang, Sun Kim, and I - have been working on integrating bioinformatics applications with the workflow engine used in V-Lab-Protein. We found that the following features are missing, which need to be considered for future improvement.

Dynamic user input : Currently, in our workflow engine XBaya, user input is somewhat static and should be determined before execution of a workflow, while some workflow engines like Tevana enable a user to intervene the execution of workflow and change input values dynamically.
GUI automation : Thanks to GFac, we can simply run command-line applications in our workflow engine. However, to integrate various applications into a workflow execution, including GUI-based applications like Java applets and Web services, we need something like AppleScript which can automate or simulate human mouse and keyboard activities.

Personally, I think it would be also interesting to develop something like a remote desktop with web interface. Now we are observing so many great web applications which give the illusion to use a desktop in a web browser. So, I believe it will be possible to build a Web-based remote desktop application. Using Microsoft's Silverlight or Adobe's Flash will be interesting for this purpose.
